High performance alloys for pharmaceutical process equipment

High performance alloys for pharmaceutical process equipment

Pharmaceutical production facilities present  a number of challenges for construction materials due to temperature, pressure and corrosive nature of process operations as well as stringent cleaning and sanitizing regimes.
The alloys needs to be of high quality since they have a direct impact on the potential product  contamination.
Type 1.4404 AISI 316L  austenitic stainless steel is the dominant alloy in pharmaceutical industry; the corrosion resistance, weldability, electropolishing proprieties, and availability make it the ideal candidate for most applications.
Although 1.4404 AISI 316L performs well in many process environments  over the last 15 years, regulatory and performance requirements have incentivized the use of more corrosion-resistant materials(see  title 21 of code of Federal Regulations).
SteriValves  manufactures its products also in  nickel-base alloys to have superior corrosion resistance than type 1.4404 AISI 316L   stainless steel and also to reduce maintenance costs in very aggressive environments.
We can manufacture our SteriSplit, Sterivalve, Sterivalve Heavy, Rotovalve Light in high performing alloys upon request.
See below the available materials:

Duplex stainless steel: it is stronger mechanically and chemically than 1.4404 AISI 316L and permits components to be made with a lower thickness. Ideal for pressurized applications.

It’s the perfect steel for sterivalve type valve of large diameter valves ( from 250mm up to 400mm ) and to counteract the high pressures and possible explosions .
Hastelloy C22®:it has high resistance to uniform attack, outstanding localized corrosion resistance, excellent stress corrosion cracking resistance.
It is the successful choice for particularly corrosive environments and a valuable ally for our SteriSplit in countering cross-contamination .

FEP lined stainless steel: FEP precision coating and non-sticks properties make FEP lined stainless steel an excellent choice for components in pharmaceutical application since it reduces product contamination and adhesion.

Thanks to its high resistance to chemical attacks our FEP coated Rotovalve Light is the successful solution for the discharge of very aggressive bulk solid products .

The anti- adherent properties of the FEP coating guarantee the perfect smoothness of almost all substances facilitating the discharge of the product .
